As the National Teachers’ Month comes to a close, PPC DepEd will virtually conduct various contests for teachers to participate in during its World Teachers’ Day (WTD) celebration on October 6.

With this year’s theme, “Gurong Pilipino: Katuwang sa Hamon, Kasama sa Pagbangon”, the division-wide celebration aims to highlight the invaluable efforts, dedication, and contribution of teachers in the sustained delivery of basic education in the new normal amid the present crisis.

City DepEd’s WTD competitions will include simple yet meaningful activities such as Solo Singing, Ballroom Medley, Interpretative Dance, Watch Your Story, and Funniest Work-from-Home Videos. The said events are open to all teaching and non-teaching personnel.

The virtual WTD culmination programs will be livestreamed via DepEd Tayo Puerto Princesa City Facebook page from October 4 to 6.

Relevant to the celebration are other virtual activities such as the Tribute to Teachers to be spearheaded by SSG/SPG, the Division Youth Formation, and by the Parents-Teachers Association, and the Coronation for the Search for Mr. and Ms. DepEd 2021.

Republic Act No. 10743 and UNESCO have designated October 5 of every year as National Teachers’ Day and World Teachers’ Day, a day to honor teachers and their central role in guiding children, youth, and adults through the life-long learning process. In the Philippines, this tribute to educators became a month-long celebration by observing National Teachers’ Month, which starts on September 5 and ends on October 5.
