DIBISYON NG PPC, UNANG BENEPISYARYO NG “CLASSROOM OF THE FUTURE”

Ito ang naging pahayag ni G. Mark Anthony C. Sy, Head of Information and Communications Technology Service – Educational Technology Unit (ICTS – EdTech Unit) sa kaniyang pambungad na mensahe para sa mga kalahok sa Batch 2 ng National Training – Workshop of Teachers on the “Classroom of the Future”Program na ginanap sa A&A Plaza Hotel, Hunyo 2. Ito ay dinaluhan ng humigit 150 guro, school heads, at supervisors mula sa Dibisyon ng Lungsod ng Puerto Princesa.

Sa isang panayam, sinabi ni Sy na ang “Classroom of the Future” ay ang paggamit ng iba’t ibang Open Educational Resources (OER) software na maaaring ma-install, ma-copy, at ma-propagate sa iba’t ibang devices tulad ng android tools, website servers na kahit walang internet ay maaari pa ring magamit. “Since we have a lot of problems in terms of paper printing, this one is a good alternative that even if it has an audio or a video, it is still embedded in the actual system that the learners will enjoy in using,” wika ni Sy.

Gamit ang makabagong teknolohiya, ang “Lumi for Education” na isang software application, ay pinasimulang gamitin ng DepEd Philippines sa ilalim ng ICTS-EdTech Unit. Naging kauna-unahang benepisyaryo nito ang Dibisyon ng Lungsod ng Puerto Princesa partikular sa Talaudyong Elementary School at Puerto Princesa Pilot Elementary School kung saan nagsagawa ng capacity building sa mga guro, magulang, at mag-aaral, at pagkakaloob ng mga tablets at WiFi routers para sa pagsasakatuparan ng iHub.

Ibinalita rin ni G. Sy ang pambihirang “5 Star” rating na iginawad ng United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) sa DepEd Philippines dahil sa ipinakitang kahandaan ng Kagawaran sa pagtugon sa hamon ng edukasyon sa gitna ng pandemya. Ang iba’t ibang OER na dinebelop ng ICTS tulad ng printed modular materials, online tools, DepEd TV, Radio-Based Instruction, atbp. ay naging pamantayan ng UNICEF upang bigyan ng pinakamataas na marka ang DepEd.

Sa unang araw ng pagsasanay ay nagpaabot ng mensahe si Dir. Abram YC Abanil, Director IV ng ICTS; Dr. Loida P. Adornado, CESO VI, Asst. Schools Division Superintendent, OIC of the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent na nirepresenta ni Dr. Eleazer B. Arellano, Chief of School Governance and Operations Divisions.
